Spring Greetings!

If you have noticed an absence of gallery posts in the past few months, apologies. First there was the shock of our national election results (from which I haven’t recovered). Then followed quite a bit of design work for both print and web that I do to support my art practice. (If you’d like to learn more about my design work, see: https://annerussinofdesign.com/)

Thus I’ve seen many wonderful shows, but have not been able to blog about them.

NYC Creative Salon Podcast

On March 9th I participated in a podcast on the topic of art-making as it relates to the theme of Structure. I was invited by Melissa Staiger, who moderated our discussion.

NYC Creative Salon (nyccreativesalon.com) was created by Pia Coronel, Marina Ross and Kelsey Shwetz to investigate a set of seven topics being discussed by a variety of different artists.
Each gathering is moderated by a former participant, in this case Melissa.

Ours took place at Lizbeth Mitty’s studio and included Lizbeth, Scott Robinson, Beatrice Wolert, Meredith Hoffheins and myself. Pia did an excellent job of recording us.

Jane Bensen in “Song for Sebald” at LMAK Gallery
March 31 – May 7, 2017
Composer Matt Schickele, mezzo-soprano Hai-Ting Chinn, and the vocal performers
Tomas Cruz and Joe Chappel. The collaged recordings of each movement are encountered by viewers in sound pods equipped with headphones that are presented alongside each chapter of incised text, with the entire score played in the gallery daily at noon.
